Cultivating Health through Herbal Awareness and Health Empowerment
Health Empowerment
Today many of us have heard of or even use herbal products. It has become common place to see or hear ads on radio and t.v. selling Ginko Biloba, Kava Kava, etc. This is bittersweet for those of us who know the whole story; from the beginning. We should all be glad that people are returning to nature to provide medicines and foods that are needed to sustain a healthy life. The problem is in the "buisiness" of health. It is a buisiness and like all buisiness there are winners and losers. The real truth that hasn't been told is that people will do ANYTHING to protect their financial investments.
I could very easily write a book explaining the history of greed in the pharmacuetical industry or hocus-pocus opportunist posing as healers.
The second great problem we all share is with those who need the most healing. Those in denial. These people are so afraid to realize that this problem of greed has gained such control in their own life that they refuse reason without outside input. The fear of coming to a conclusion on ones own, makes no sense. When we cannot come to reason within our own minds then we are canidates for a type of slavery. Programable Mutants. This is what has happened to all of us on some level. We have even alowed this into different aspects of our lives. And at this point no herbal supplement, perscription drug, crystal ball, etc. can do any lasting good. Health consists of a healthy mind and body, both of which are derived from the Formless void. Spirit.
The Leaf Project does not diagnose, cure, heal, or prescribe. We believe that with the right direction and intention; empowerment is inevatable. This concept, at first, may be hard for those who need to have a tangable guarantee. Worse case scenario is that you could end up with a higher quality of life and the CHOICE to return to your old habits. The good thing is that this costs you nothing. We only ask that you volunteer your skills toward the mission statement. This can be done in the form of participating in Organizations who's misssion statement resembles ours or even starting your own.
There are 3 beginning steps for the individual who wishes to challenge the possibilities of real freedom. And they are:
1.)Learn to breathe correctly. There are many books on the subject. If you find one that suites you pick at least 2 different exercises and try to do them 2 times a day. Morning and evening is fine. Take Tai Ch'i, Yoga, etc. These types of exercises help you focus on that connection between mind and body, which lets us experience our beings as observers. Athletes sometimes call this the zone. A healthy breathing regement alone can change your life for the better.
2.)Spend 30-60mins. a day in complete silence( at least 15 min. at a time). If you do not have time, then list 5 reasons why you don't. After listing these 5 reasons put them in order of importance to YOU and your long-term goals. Start with the bottom of the list. Now see how you can incorporate, re-schedule, shuffle or cancel events or tasks in order to begin this practice. Remember without your sanity you cannot do yourself or anyone else any good. The object of this exercise is to let the mind rest from stimulus. This is very important! If the mind does not rest, then the mind does not create very well and the mind gets stressed and somewhat clostriphobic. It dips into the same old tired patterns in order to function. And if we are not functioning well, dipping into the same patterns is not a option.

3.) Remember to never lie to yourself. This probably should have been number one on the list. The humility that comes from this important precept is insightfull and healing. The power that comes from this assertion is self-evident and totally contageous(beware!). Be inviting of any self-criticisms that you may have of yourself. Correct accordingly. Afterall you will only do good. Do not allow yourself to be so critical that you do not move foward. The feed-back that you get from your self is your diagnosis. You could never afford this type of diagnosis from your shrink. Afterall it's not really his job. Those people who have a very serious problem and are seeking psycological counseling should do these exercises under supervision of their current practitioners. This however, does not contraindicate any treatment plan. Questions? email us @ [email protected]
